NAS Brings Technology Tools and Learning to Students in Tanzania

Moshi, Tanzania : Monday, May 9, 2022

National Aviation Services (NAS) in Tanzania - Dar Airco, supported by Agility, collaborated with the Born to Learn (BTL) association to bring technology and multimedia tools as well as learning to its students in Moshi.

Founded with the aim of developing and empowering vulnerable communities in Tanzania, BTL currently schools 450 students between the ages of 3 and 22. The organization implements programs for community development encompassing education, nutrition, entrepreneurship, health care, housing, agriculture and environment.

While BTL was equipped to provide all kinds of educational support, it was sorely lacking computer skills and training. This is where NAS stepped in. With a focus on capacity building and skills development in the country, NAS helped BTL set up a technology and multimedia room that will benefit 350 children and young adults annually.

The support includes maintenance of the facility and the equipment as well as internships offered to deserving students at NAS offices in Tanzania. NAS employees will also engage in running workshops relating to technology and computer use to further enhance the children’s knowledge and skills.

NAS runs several initiatives that are targeted to giving back to the local communities in Tanzania. These include the first of the it’s kind Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Transport (NIT) to conduct on the job training and internships for aviation industry workers and a six-month internship program at their offices. Selected individuals from this program also got an opportunity to get hired by the company into permanent positions.
